Ask a question
Which assessments should we use for leadership roles?

It depends on what the role demands. Most leadership programmes combine a few types: cognitive ability and reasoning, personality and behaviour (such as DISC and the Big 5), emotional intelligence, and situational judgement tests for managers and supervisors. Leadership-specific traits, adaptability and resilience can be added where relevant.

We'll recommend the right combination for each role, so people only complete what's relevant.

Who should we assess, and when?

Wherever it will make the most difference. When selecting leaders, most clients assess shortlisted candidates before the final interview, so the report can guide the questions they ask. For development and succession, many organisations start with their current leadership team and their high-potential people, then expand from there.

Can assessments help us identify high-potential leaders?

Yes. Assessments give you objective data to spot people with leadership potential early, even if they're not the obvious choice. They show readiness, learning agility and the ability to handle increased responsibility, so you can plan their development.

Can you tailor assessments to our leadership roles?

Yes. Many of the organisations we support need bespoke assessments for their unique management and leadership needs. We can combine existing assessments, benchmark people against your own top leaders, or develop a custom assessment around the demands of a specific role. Custom assessments are validated against real performance data, so you know they reflect what success looks like in your organisation.

Are the assessments suitable for every level of leadership?

Yes. We provide assessments for supervisors and managers through to senior and executive roles. We'll help you choose assessments that suit the level and demands of each role.

How long do the assessments take?

Most take between 5 and 30 minutes, depending on the assessments you choose. People complete them online from anywhere, with no preparation needed. Some sections, such as reasoning, are timed.

Can people pass or fail?

No. There's no pass or fail. Results show a person's strengths, development areas and fit for the role, and are best used alongside interviews, experience, references and performance.

What do the reports show?

Each person gets a clear report showing their strengths and development areas, what the results are likely to mean in day-to-day work, and practical strategies for developing or managing them. You can compare people against each other and against a benchmark for the role.

Can you help us use the results?

Yes. Our team can provide feedback sessions on results, and can work with you to build assessment insights into your everyday leadership selection, development and succession processes.

Are the assessments valid and reliable?

Yes. They're built on established psychological theory and decades of research, developed by industrial psychologists through a rigorous process, and closely aligned with International Test Commission guidelines for fair and ethical use.

How much do they cost, and is there a subscription?

There's no subscription fee for the assessments or the platform. You pay only for the assessments you use, at some of the most cost-effective rates on the market, with discounts for bulk orders. Talk to us for a quote based on your roles and volumes.

Can we see a sample report first?

Yes. We're happy to share free sample reports and talk through the right assessments for your leadership roles before you commit to anything.
