2024 Queensland Small Business HR Grant
A Step by Step Guide for Your Business.
The Queensland Department of Employment, Small Business, and Training (DESBT) is now offering HR support grants of up to $5,000 (excluding GST) for small businesses.
These grants are aimed at helping businesses overcome workforce challenges.
Eligible Small Businesses for the Grant
Eligible small businesses must:
- Have an active ABN and be based in Queensland.
- Be registered for GST.
- Employ at least one person (not including the owner).
- Have fewer than 20 employees.
- Earn less than $10 million annually, with at least half of the income coming from the business.
- Ensure that owners/directors are not insolvent or bankrupt.
- Have a Workforce Plan, approved by an Industry Workforce Advisor, that outlines your immediate HR needs and strategies.
Who are Industry Workforce Advisors?
Industry Workforce Advisors have been established to provide tailored assistance to small to medium
employers by developing workforce plans to addressgaps in their workforce.
Industry Workforce Advisors, through development of a workforce plan, identify and connect employers
with existing available support from Queensland Government programs, grants and initiatives relevant to their particular workforce challenges.
Workforce Plans must be completed by the eligible business in collaboration with your Industry Workforce Advisor.
What is the application process?
1.
Find an Industry Workforce Advisor here.
2.
Your Industry Workforce Advisor will take care of sending your completed workforce plan to DESBT for you.
3.
After DESBT checks your request and confirms you’re eligible, they’ll send you a link to the application form along with guidance to help you through the process.
You’ll need to include at least two quotes from different HR providers for the services outlined in your workforce plan, with each quote being up to $5,000. Our team can assist by providing one of these quotes. We can also recommend HRS connect for an alternative quote.
4.
Submitted online applications will be assessed by DESBT within 10 business days of submission, subject to demand.
When do applications close?
Applications will be accepted up until 30 June 2025 or until the $1 million of funds available are exhausted (whichever is sooner).
